Gilnockie Hall

Gilnockie Hall built in 1926 has been the hub of the community for all local events. In the past, bowling, badminton, WRI Meetings, dances, children’s Christmas parties have all been held in this splendid little community hall. During the 1960’s local hall committee members carried out refurbishment work, and the hall gained a stage and a relocated main door. However, it still retains the outside character of its original appearance. Even today it is still in use with a Scout Group using the facilities as well as a newly reformed badminton club. Only this year the hall held its 80th Burns Supper, an event that is very well attended with much sought after tickets. Just recently a school reunion was held for all former pupils of Gilnockie School. A local couple have also used the hall for their Golden Wedding reception and a young couple for their wedding reception. It remains the main focal point for the people in the Gilnockie area and it is about to have another facelift, deservedly so, it has faithfully served the locals for well over 80 years.

We finish the tour with Gilnockie Hall because it epitomises all that is Gilnockie.
